In life we have to make our mark, we have to be irreplaceable. I have discovered this throughout my studies, work experience and various volunteer programs.DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLYMy freshman year of college I was selected as a program manager on a freshman orientation committee. My main assignment was to plan the meals for a two day conference. My coordinators led me to the information that was used semester after semester. Being an individual who loves a good meal, I believed we could get better food while staying in budget. So I did the research and created proposals in attempts to improve the way things seemed to have always been done. Even though my assignment seemed small I proved myself. I was later selected to be a coordinator on the same committee and eventually a director over 80 student volunteers for the same department.EXPERIENCE ALL YOU CANFrom that semester on I have volunteered on campus every semester on various councils, committees and teams. I discovered that if all I left with at the end of my studies was a degree I would have wasted my college years. Life is about gaining experience. Life is about growing. AND NOW HERE I AMAll those years of volunteering paid off, literally, I got hired for one of the departments I had previously volunteered at. I work with a group of ten campus students and act as the liaison between them and the online students. This has presented unique challenges as I have discovered that campus students, myself included, think differently then online students. My opportunity is to market events and tools in a way that would be attractive to the online demographic. WHERE I HOPE TO GOI crave further experience in the areas of event management, social media marketing and public speaking. However, I believe there are experience and work that I yet to know that I love and I am willing and wanting to discover what other passions for work that I have.
