As a working student, I am responsible for cleaning fifteen out of the thirty stalls on the property, as well as keeping the aisles tidy and the stalls bedded. We work together as a team at Rowe Stables to achieve a fluid and fun environment for both animals and humans alike. Keeping the barn clean is essential for maintaining the health, safety and success of the property, and I thoroughly enjoy helping out to ensure everyone is happy. Twice a week, I have the opportunity to ride a wonderful Prix St. George dressage horse to learn and practice the upper level movements under the guidance of the esteemed Tracy Rowe.

Michigan State University

I am a graphic designer at MATRIX, the center of digital humanities at Michigan State University. I work along side another professional graphic designer and we design components for all of the digital humanities projects. Most of my work concentrates on web design and creating the different aspects such as logos, icons, and modals. I learned new technology and software including Sketch, Invision, and Craft, as well as fine-tune my Adobe skills. I also learned basic HTML and CSS skills while I was at MATRIX, which has increased my knowledge of web design even more.

In addition to this, manager work includes maintaining and organizing the store. It's my responsibility to open the store, complete paper work and sustain our bagel stock. Between supervising the staff and attending to our customers, I'm constantly balancing two different roles as a leader. I love having everything run as smoothly as possible in order to achieve the happiest customers and employees.

I am responsible for the convenience of information for all of the buildings' residents and their families. The position includes: receiving, sorting, and delivering mail, signing residents in and out of the halls, checking out items such as vacuums and dustpans to residents, and providing friendly information to our students and their families whenever they need assistance. We are also responsible for maintaining the safety of the buildings if there are any emergencies, and we report pest problems, maintenance problems, and any domestic issues such as sexual harassment or excessive intoxication.

For several years, I have worked as an assistant at Serenity Farms. This is also the barn where I ride and I enjoy helping my instructors as much as I can. We offer a Pony Club program to young children during the summer and I help teach the kids about horses as well as offering assistance with grooming, tacking, and riding the horse. I've also completed two life-size, wooden horse replicas for educational purposes in the stable. After designing the outline of the horse, two horses were cut out and given to me to paint their skeletal and physical compositions.
