I was chosen to be a teaching assistant for the Studies in Communication and Media course. I worked with my fellow teaching assistants to teach labs spanning from creating blog posts to editing videos, create and design small lessons for a weekly segment of class called "TA time", and hold weekly office hours to help students when they were struggling to understand a topic or needed assistance on a paper. Aside from helping students, I would meet with the professor to discuss that weeks class and lab, make changes in curriculum, and discuss recent topics and events to see how they could be brought into the class. During my time as a teaching assistant, the campus shut down and all students were moved to remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. My fellow TA's and I were unexpectedly tasked with helping the professor and students adapt to an online learning platform. This included finding new ways to engage with students and changing the class curriculum to better fit the situation at hand. My second semester in this position, I was promoted to "Lead TA".
