Research Fellow under Dr. Trewyn whose group specializes in the design, synthesis and characterization of high surface area, mesoporous materials for heterogeneous catalysis, gene and therapeutic drug delivery, and sequestration applications.Duties have included working with a graduate student mentor to synthesize capped mesoporous Fe-MCM-41 silica decorated with functional groups for enzymatic stimuli-controlled release of medicine for pharmaceutical uses. Other duties have also included the preparation of media, plate pouring, and maintaining cell cultures. I have also held the responsibility of analyzing silica for the quality of the product using Tristar II, carburization, and XRD methods. Other duties have included scientific writing as well and design of epoxidation experiments.

Colorado School of Mines is the most selective public school in Colorado with over 13,000 students vying each year for 950 spots in the freshman class. Each year our admissions staff is responsible for recruiting these amazing students and evaluating their high school achievements. Worked directly with the Director of Admissions to assist with recruitment of prospective students through formal and informal presentations about academics and life at Mines and advising these student's families. Also, representing Mines at various college fairs around Colorado. Other duties included developing a new website that engages 12,000+ perspective students and “look book” presented to 4,000+ tours each year.

Intern duties included preparation of media and client samples for analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmentals. Such testing methods/platforms includes SimPlate, VIDAS, BAX System, Petrifilm, Pour Plate, and Spiral Platting under customer standard operating procedures (SOP). Familiar with FDA, USDA, and AOAC validated testing methods for common food borne pathogens such as E-coli, Salmonella, and Listeria. Also focused on quality control and making quality improvements within the lab.

Studied interactions of patients and Medical Assistants and X-ray technicians and recorded information to create recommendations to improve efficiency and improve patient experience.
