As an intern in the prevention department of TCFV, my job responsibility has been to work on a grant program called Project Connect. The goal of this program has four parts, (1) to develop and implement a statewide plan to strengthen the public health response to domestic and sexual violence by coordinating initiatives from various providers to enhance and strengthen prevention approaches (2) improve connectedness between providers of domestic and sexual violence health services (3) Obtain funding to ensure sustainability of these programs and (4) prepare a document to use within legislative and public policy groups to express the need to address the public health problems associated with domestic and sexual violence

• As an intern at ChildSafe, I worked with the prevention department, client services, and training and education services. For the prevention department I would attend workshops and health fairs and teach both the general public and professionals the warning signs and symptoms of child sexual abuse. In client services I would meet with children and their families and do needs assessments, service referrals, and case coordination among various child health providers. In the education services department, I helped plan and coordinate a national child abuse conference. The two day conference was attended by approximately 500 people, had two keynote speakers as well as forty speakers for breakout sessions.
