Even before beginning my college academics, I had a firm personal foundation focused on excellence. Being self-motivated, detail oriented, and flexible rounded out my ability to be a strong team member and leader. I served in the United States Air Force 8 years first in Customer Service Management, then advancing into Financial Management as a Budget Analyst. While In the Air Force, I stayed actively involved in the community by volunteering with the following agencies:• Big Brother/Big Sister• Meals on Wheels• Airman Against Drunk Driving (AADD) – Treasurer• Habitat for Humanity• Manas Air Base Outreach Society (MABOS) – Treasurer• Honor Guard – Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge• Self-Aid Buddy – Care InstructorAfter first receiving an Associates degree in Accounting/Finance, I then acquired my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Forensic Science and Technology, specializing in Forensic Investigations from the University of Maryland University College. During one of my two deployments overseas as a member of a Search and Recovery team for my fallen Airman, I decided to further my education to become a medical Doctor. I am currently enrolled at North Carolina Central University pursuing a second degree with a major in Biology/Pre-Med and a minor in Nutrition.Along with my NCCU academic program, I participated in the Clinical Health Summer Program. This important program collaborates with NCCU and Duke University which allows students to shadow a doctor for 7 weeks (40 hr/week). I had the honor to gain valuable experience in Pediatric Endocrinology, Nutrition, and Psychology. This additional knowledge will be utilized on my humanitarian trip to Peru, where I will assist international doctors through numerous rotations.
