Invest Victoria is the Victorian Government's key economic development agency responsible for setting investment strategy for the state and attracting and leading foreign investment. My role within Strategy & Insights focuses primarily on economic development, including creating and providing advice in relation to investment and economic strategies, and undertaking quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify new and emerging trends, issues, risks and opportunities affecting the Victorian economy.Achievements include:- Conducted detailed data and policy analysis of investment trends by priority sector, assessed against geopolitical influences and national economic policy and conditions, to advise TIV’s international markets on strategic priorities for the year ahead.- Contributed to the strategic framework for the Victorian International Investment Strategy, which centered around a quantitative and qualitative analysis of past FDI performance, Victoria’s attractiveness & ability to attract investment, and the respective policy environment for each of Victoria’s priority sectors and subsectors. This analysis was used to advise Melbourne and market teams on the intensity and types of effort required to grow industry.- Initiated and conducted a report into the productivity benefits from FDI. The report’s findings were used in budget bids, and as the theoretical framework for the Investment Strategy.

As part of the VPS Graduate Program 2021, I was situated at the Essential Services Commission, Victoria's independent regulator that promotes the long-term interests of Victorian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential servicesWorking within the Price Monitoring and Regulation team. The Grattan Institute is Australia's pre-eminent policy thinktank producing high-quality public policy recommendations for Australia’s future.Working within the Budget Policy & Institutional Reform Program, my work examined the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on young Australians in work and education. Successes include contributing research, critiques, and analysis of economic policy targeted at youth unemployment, with findings and data used to support a Grattan submission to the Victorian Government. General tasks included policy research, literature review, policy recommendations, data analysis, and data visualisation using R and Excel.
