Throughout my professional life I have worked to support and promote the voice of vulnerable individuals and their families, seeking positive change for vulnerable groups. Having experienced my own journey as a dyslexic student, I have a personal respect and understanding of the value and impact student experience has on the long-term aspirations of young people. I am passionate that all students should be encouraged to explore and reach for their aspirations regardless of perceived limitations. Following 9 years working as an advocate for young people with a learning disability, often requiring me to question or challenge education providers decisions; stepping into the role as SEND Service Manager at Gloucestershire college, required me to shift my perspective, balancing my desire to take creative approaches to solving young people’s barriers to learning against the practicalities of funding limitations and stretched resources.
