At CeX my job is to serve customers with speed and precision in mind. It is a fast paced atmosphere where most customers prefer to spend a minimal amount of time. I sell a variety of products to customers from gaming software to the consoles that run the software as well as mobile phones and other electronic goods. I also buy items from customers for cash or in store credit depending on their preference. This means i have to grade items based on a number of factors to give the customer a quote for their products, book electronics in for testing to ensure the product is in good working order and submit certain electronics to a check to make sure the product is not stolen and does not contain personal information. I handle cash and card transactions as well as refunds and am able to navigate the current till operating system despite it being an older system yet to be updated which shows my flexibility and learning capability to adapt to whatever may be required of me to learn in my next position. I ensure my workplace is neat and tidy by keeping on top of filing items, labelling products and cleaning scratched software that have been sold to us in between serving customers to make use of any free time i have when not serving members of the public. On top of this i aim to beat any targets that are given to me by my store manager such as signing up customers for memberships. Another target is to set up bank transfers or e-vouchers for customers to make sure we have a good amount of change in the tills rather than using money from the tills for every customer that sells goods to us, I am also the highest achieving staff member in store as i am exceeding the average for this too.

I started on the Bakery department which was a great learning curve for me. Here I excelled in my organisation skills and time keeping skills, managing in house stock levels for baking and ensuring we had the correct goods ready for the next day. From 2015 I was a dry goods assistant carrying out various duties supporting both customers and team members. Due to this role and my time here, I enhanced my managerial skills, being able to make difficult decisions when required and complete general shop tasks such as cashing up and locking up.Over the 5 years that I was with Sainsbury's my duties included:-Baking Sainsbury’s own brand products from frozen, packing and labelling them accordingly.-Slicing bread for customers when required and had experience in doing the start up.-Tray up bread ready for the next working day and thaw and Serve items taken out and labelled.-Place stock orders for in house use; sugar, icing, cherries, hot cross bun glaze and managed stock levels. -Train new starters and my replacement when i swapped departments.-General bakery; washing up, sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces and appliances.-General shop duties: price reductions and disposals. Stock counts, F.O.A check.-Providing top customer service face to face and over the phone, building a rapport and finding out their needs while offering as much advice and support as possible.-Till work; Self scan trained, handling cash/card transactions, arranging online or in store orders for customers and cashing up at the end of the day.-Basic shop floor tasks; pulling cages onto the shop floor, working them quickly and efficiently whilst stock rotating. merchandise and plinth change experience, overnight shift experience. (restock fresh goods, frozen and produce goods). -Back door experience (unloading lorry, breaking down cages, waste disposal) -Occasionally being responsible for the stores security/chaining fire exit doors/locking up.

At Extreme body art my job would entail answering phone calls and emails, booking appointments for clients and designing tattoos. Taking payments as well as deposits. I mopped the floors before the store opened and once it was closed as well as cleaning workstations between clients.

My overall experience within Urban Body Art was a great starting point to develop my customer service skills. I often answered the phone and managed emails, booking in clients accordingly onto the studio’s schedule. I mopped the floors before the stores were open and again at close down. I cleaned down workstations and ensured the station areas were meeting the studio’s hygiene standards for each client. I was able to setup tattoo equipment and prepare inks ready for clients to be tattooed. I was able to design clients tattoos based on the information they gave me and apply stencils. Here I was able to flourish in my hobby, which was to draw up sketches and tattoo designs, but also had the amazing opportunity to tattoo a few clients while being supervised.

At Just Tattoos is where i first gained experience within the industry, I was able to build confidence and a better understanding of customer service. my day to day duties included mopping the floors before the store opened and once it was closed as well as doing a full clean down of the work stations. I also took telephone calls and answered emails to book clients in as well as handling payments and deposits. My time here was short as i had to prioritise my studies at the time but i learned a lot whilst working for Just Tattoos and used these skills for my future roles.
