A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD), Cate's experience in operational HR started in retail management with Marks and Spencer plc. She moved into wholesaling, working for Watson and Philip plc for six years in a variety of HR, training and development roles. Latterly she managed the HR function of the cash and carry division, whilst also sitting on the Council of the Scottish Wholesale Association, providing strategic support in training and development to the wholesale sector. In 2000 Cate moved into the education sector, as HR and Development Manager at Dundee College – then Scotland’s largest college. She was involved in many sector wide initiatives to share best practice and served on the Board of the Scottish Further Education Unit (SFEU) which supports Scotland’s colleges. Cate is qualified to British Psychological Society Levels A & B in Psychometric Evaluation which she uses for the purposes of recruitment and selection, employee outsourcing, employee development and 360º feedback. A powerful tool to support and effect change, Cate provides individual feedback and development plans to support both individual and organisational growth, using psychometric profiling. A lay member of Employment Tribunals Scotland since 2003, Cate maintains her knowledge of changing legislation and regularly contributes to articles in news and trade publications.Clients of Cate's have commented on her pragmatic, no nonsense approach to HR issues in the workplace.
