I am an experienced writer and editor who has enjoyed creative work in academic, literary, and marketing settings. I am passionate about the Oxford comma, remote work, critical thinking, collaboration, dogs, and lifelong learning (not necessarily in that order). In my current role, I work in Chicago and Associated Press styles editing blog posts, inbound articles, e-books, and web copy. I also maintain an in-house style guide and manage a team of freelance and full-time copy editors. As a writer, I believe in making content accessible for any intended audience, and I have a talent for finding the right balance between talking over readers’ heads and condescending to them. As an editor, my philosophy is to prioritize the writer’s voice and elevate their content to the best it can be, not transform it into something I might have written. As a leader, my goal is to lead from the middle and foster an open and equitable environment in which team members feel heard and valued.I received my MFA in creative writing in 2015 with a concentration in fiction and have published several short stories and articles in publications including Ruminate and Slate. When not writing or editing, I'm probably reading a murder mystery or watching a baseball game.
