Working as the senior cold end engineer and cold end maintenance supervisor I am responsible for all aspects of maintenance and engineering within the cold end inspection and packaging area. This includes daily maintenance, continuous improvements, projects and equipment specification and purchasing. Continuous improvement plays a vital part in the role and a knowledge of lean manufacturing tools helps the area run smoothly, efficiently and continue to move in the right direction.I am also involved in all aspects of packaging and consumables used in the cold end. I perform trials and liaise with suppliers to ensure all packaging and consumables are delivered to specification.

Working as the cold end Project engineer I was responsible for the design, installation, commissioning and start-up of the cold end of the Elton glass plant. The Elton glass plant is the newest and largest glass plant built in the UK and one of the most technologically advanced glass plants in the world.Over a year was spent developing the layout and specifying equipment for the plant before the installation work started. A large attention to detail during the design phase ensured a quick and smooth installation and start-up. The cold end consists of 13 state of the art production lines consisting of inspection and packaging equipment for container glass. A fast and steep learning curve was required to ensure the plant personnel could quickly learn and become efficient on all the equipment. My previous experience working on the equipment and in the cold end production environment was vital to the smooth start-up.

Working as the maintenance supervisor I was responsible for the maintenance of the entire plant. The position involved co-ordinating all aspects of plant maintenance with production and planning to ensure the smooth running of the plant.The position also involved major refits of equipment and design, installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment.

Working as a graduate engineer I gained experience of the entire plant. Concentrating on the cold end inspection and packaging area I started to learn about all the equipment from the experienced engineers and started to make the area my own.
