In addition to my responsibilities as Controller, as an officer of the company I reviewed and approved contracts in accordance with the company’s approval policies. During this period, Morgan Stanley Inc. became the managing member of the company. As a result, there were additional, new, and changed reporting requirements, as well as new stakeholders to manage.* Significant restructuring of our legal entity structure was necessary due to the change in control.* Responsible for new reporting obligations to Morgan Stanley.* Managed relationship with new external auditors.* Responsible for responding to financial due diligence requests from prospective acquirers during a proposed sale process.

Reporting to the CEO (North America), I was responsible for the planning and implementation of financial and accounting reporting procedures and compliance of reporting obligations for the NaturEner USA and NaturEner Canada entities. I also managed the five-person accounting team. From October 2011 onward, the company did not have a CFO, and I was the senior finance person in North America.* Achieved significant reduction in property tax by challenging the basis on which our wind farms were assessed.* Assisted with closure of construction and equity financing for new 189 MW wind farm.* Managed construction loan drawdown process, including significant interaction with Legal and Engineering/Construction teams.* System implementation from Sage MAS 90 to Oracle JDE.

NaturEner is an Independent Power Producer that develops and operates utility-scale wind energy projects in North America. From 2009 to 2017 NaturEner USA and Canada had 399 MW of wind generation assets; 700MW+ of assets under development; strategic transmission assets; capex of $800M+; construction financing debt of $500M+; tax equity and term-debt commitments of $500M+; and long-term investment-grade revenue contracts representing $1.5 billion in total revenue.As NaturEner USA expanded, I was hired as their first Assistant Controller. Among other aspects of this role I:* Prepared monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements* Worked with the Controller to design, and then prepare monthly management reports for internal and external stakeholders* Built financial statement reports from scratch where none previously existed* Implemented comprehensive processes and controls in all areas of the business* Worked with external tax advisors to ensure tax compliance, and with external auditors to complete interim and annual audits
