Cate Carbonaro Email and Phone Number
I am deeply committed to advancing social justice, public interest, and access to justice, with a particular focus on supporting survivors of gender-based violence. As the incoming Executive Director at The Retreat, I am thrilled to lead an organization that offers essential services to survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, and abuse through counseling, legal advocacy, shelter, and prevention education. I look forward to building on the incredible work The Retreat has accomplished and expanding our services to reach even more individuals in need. Before stepping into this role, I served as the Director of the Public Advocacy Center and Public Interest at Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center, where I oversaw and coordinated a network of organizations that provided holistic access to justice for vulnerable populations. In addition, as an Adjunct Professor of Law, I had the privilege of teaching and mentoring law students, sharing valuable insights gained through years of practice and research.During my time as a Senior Staff Attorney at The Legal Aid Society's Exploitation Intervention Project, I represented survivors of trafficking and exploitation in criminal cases, while advocating for policy reforms and collaborating with community partners to address the underlying causes of exploitation. This experience deepened my commitment to compassionate, effective support for survivors, and I am excited to bring this passion to my work at The Retreat as I continue serving the public interest.
