Kate's practice focuses on commercial real estate transactions and complex commercial transactions and commercial finance transactions. Kate has assisted clients in expanding their businesses and acquiring assets throughout Vermont, New York and New England. Kate's practice includes representing local and out-of-state businesses and banks in complex commercial transactions, including large credit facilities, mezzanine financing, private equity investments, tax-exempt bond transactions, and the purchase, sale and leasing of commercial property. In addition, Kate has developed an expertise in the representation of waste management companies. Her experience was gained over a number of years representing Casella Waste Systems, Inc. in Vermont, New York and New England, and Winters Bros. Waste Systems, Inc. in Long Island, New York in the acquisition of landfills, transfer stations, tuck-in businesses and in the negotiation and closing of complex credit facilities, mezzanine financing and private placements in connection with the financing of waste management business activities.Kate has represented TD Bank, NA for a number of years in connection with tax exempt bond transactions as well as complex loan transactions. In addition, she represented the City of Winooski in connection with its downtown redevelopment project in acquiring one of the largest redevelopment loans granted by HUD. Kate's public/private development projects include the negotiation and consummation of the development agreement and related real estate transactions for the Westlake project with the City of Burlington. The project includes a hotel, a residential condominium, additional public and private parking garages and commercial space.
