Land Services Business Reform Program (contracting through Candle)• Developed and implemented an Information Security Management System (ISMS) for a multi-million dollar ERP system.• Developed and implemented the ISMS in accordance with the SA Government’s Information Security Management Framework (ISMF), the AS/NZS ISO/IEC 27001 standard for Information Security Management Systems, the AS/NZS ISO/IEC 27005 standard for Information Security Risk Management, and agency standards on information security management and risk management. • Undertook Information Security Risk Assessments, including consulting with senior management.• Produced all key ISMS documentation, including the scope statement, information security risk assessment reports, statement of applicability, risk treatment plan, and high-level documentation on all of the security controls implemented.• Analysed and refined the requirements and scope of functionality for a module of the ERP system.

Information Technology Services• Developed the first Disaster Recovery Plan for ITS, which was activated during a water damage incident in March 2005, when a key data centre was inundated with ½ million litres of water.• Developed numerous IT policies, procedures and guidelines, liaising closely with faculty IT staff, and managers and technical specialists in ITS.• In a small team, established a framework and quality assurance processes for developing University policy, and co-presented a training program for senior staff on policy development and writing skills.• Involved in the University-wide risk assessment process, particularly in relation to IT-related risks.• Investigated and advised ITS management on the University’s legal obligations in regards to the provision of various IT Services.• Investigated and coordinated University responses to security incidents, including reporting to external organisations.• Called as an expert witness in a Federal Court case and provided several affidavits.• Managed various IT projects in accordance with ITS’ project management methodology.• Developed an IT project forward-planning framework and process with the General Manager, ITS.• Involved in and prepared responses for numerous internal and external audits.• Led a small team of student cadets and experienced project managers.

Secondment to the Division of Student and Staff Services Office• Developed a proposal relating to HECS fees in 2005, which was described by senior management as the “most significant decision the University has taken in the past 30 years”. It was a controversial issue and required consultation with, and approval from, all senior committees and the University Council in a very tight timeline.• Prepared presentations and supporting material for the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor regarding HECS fees, including financial modelling for various fees scenarios.

Secondment to the Student Information System implementation project• Developed Functional and Technical Requirements Specifications for data conversions and interfaces for the PeopleSoft Student Administration system.• Liaised with clients from other areas of the University to identify, improve and document business processes.• Developed SQR programs for data conversions.

Information Technology Services(Additional role)• Liaised closely with Faculties and identified their needs, issues and priorities in relation to IT.• Communicated and advocated ITS news, policy, procedures and strategy to the faculties.• Followed up on client service issues and liaised with staff in all areas of ITS.• Raised broader, cross-client and strategic issues.

Information Technology Services (ITS)• Developed and delivered staff training courses for the University’s MIS and related applications, e-mail, calendaring and scheduling, and MS-Office.• Heavily involved in the roll-out of enterprise-wide e-mail and calendaring and scheduling systems. • Developed and managed a web site for the ITS training team, including a web-based evaluation system.

Faculty of Law• Responsible for all aspects of information technology within the Faculty.• Advised the Faculty on strategic IT issues.• Advocated University IT standards within the Faculty.• Recommended and implemented a change from a predominately Mac-based desktop to IBM-compatible PCs running the University’s Supported Operating Environment, in line with the University’s standards and strategic direction in IT.• Recommended and implemented an upgrade from a legacy AppleTalk network to TCP/IP (and IPX for Novell Netware services), also in line with the University’s standards and strategic direction in IT.• Established and managed a Faculty computing budget, including funds for regular rolling upgrades of desktop computers, printers and network equipment.• Established and managed Faculty student computing laboratories.• Managed and provided support for all aspects of student and staff computing facilities including hardware and software support and maintenance, documentation and training. • Established and managed the Faculty’s Web site.• Designed and delivered a Computer Assisted Legal Research Program for undergraduate students, a formal part of the Bachelor of Laws degree. • Designed and delivered training courses for staff in the use of information technology, including word processing, presentations, audio-visual facilities in lecture theatres, and the Internet/World Wide Web. • Designed and delivered a very successful training program as part of the Faculty’s Continuing Legal Education program for legal practitioners and judges.
