About Catherine Friday

Very proud member of the EY Global Leadership Team, bringing 27 years of professional services client and leadership experiences to now leading our Global Government, and Public Sector practice. Our team operates across 85 countries within the Firm, serving clients in Education, Human Services, Defence, Foreign Affairs and Aid, Transport and Infrastructure, and Central Agencies. Collectively, we support the work of governments around the world to deliver better citizen outcomes, every day. I am also EY's Global Education Leader, providing connection and leadership to our diverse and talented Education practitioners around the world. We serve public and private Universities, the VET/FE sector, and Departments of Education, to create positive outcomes for students, teachers, researchers, and the corporate functions that support them. My broad range of clients includes Universities, State and Federal Departments and Regulators, Ministerial Councils, not-for-profits and NGOs. Now in my fourteenth year as a partner in the firm, my experiences with EY have included:-building a Risk consulting team in Canberra from zero base to thriving practice, and making it independently sustainable- my competency background is in governance, compliance and enterprise risk management (ERM) and I still actively practice in this domain -leading our Oceania Governance, Risk and Compliance (Risk Transformation) practice - leading the Consulting Practice's own Risk and Quality Management function (effectively operating as the CRO of the firm's Consulting practice, advising on commercial and non-commercial risks and quality management issues to our own service delivery teams)-representing our own partners as an elected member on the EY Regional Partner Forum (our Board of Partners)- representing the Firm in local and international forums and media (including print and television), on matters related to both my technical area (risk and governance) as well as on broader matters of public sector policy (particularly education)- I have also taken an active and committed role in the establishment of our own Indigenous Sector Practice- I am an active and passionate mentor of women in business and in public service
