You know how you have a dream? Well mine was hazy for a good portion of my life. I was brought up in the machinery moving business, plant relocations to be exact. But I know that this was not something that I wanted to do for the rest of my life so I kept my eyes open to opportunity. That opportunity came, with a customers import permits getting pulled and needing storage. A drive told my sister about a building that was available and next thing I knew we were in the heavy lift storage business. But keeping my eyes on opportunities, a customer came in and said "look at this space, and under overhead cranes - I've got 80 truckloads of steel this is perfect, then we added handling steel. As we, Dixie Cullen, are in our 29th year of business I can happily say that keeping our eye on the opportunities for growth enabled us to continue to grow, and we're not done yet!As our team has grown it's enabled me to focus on helping "Women in Logistics" build that confidence and develope the tools that they need to succeed. Participating and mentoring through organizations like ABWA, OWIT and WiLL help me know that I'm helping the next generation move into positions of leadership in logistics.
