I am both a Chartered Waste Manager and Chartered Environmentalist with over 20 years' consultancy experience in the waste and environmental sectors. Having previously worked on both contaminated land and waste management projects, I have a wealth of experience in the characterisation, classification and sustainable reuse and recycling of wastes, particularly in the construction/demolition sector. In recent years my primary focus has been on wastes (materials) resulting from the offshore energies sector, particularly oil and gas decommissioning and materials arising from the development, operation and decommissioning of offshore wind. My work involves the design and delivery of materials management strategies (MMS) and related services. My MMS are focused on maximising reuse and recycling of materials, supporting the projects in applying circular economy principles and in appropriately executing the waste Duty of Care.Following a recent move from Scotland to Wales, I am now a co-opted member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) Cymru Wales Centre Council, a position through which I aim to support the Centre Council in organising events for local members to increase and broaden our collective knowledge of our sector.
