Responsible for delivering the updated Sub Surface Railways regulations and guidance to the fire and rescue service on its enforcement role. Led on developing policy and profile for the final phase of getting UK standard for fire safety cigarettes. Responsible for developing a new phase of the Arson Control Forum.

Managed a policy team of civil servants focused on delivering the New Dimension and Firelink resilience programmes. New Dimension was a Government project set up post 9/11 to better equip the UK fire and rescue service to respond to terrorism and become more resilient. The Firelink project was focused on improving interoperability of fire and rescue service telecommunications both within the fire and rescue service and with the police and ambulance service.

Developed the Department for Environment, Transport and the Regions website and then managed changes to the site as a result of machinery of government changes which created the Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions and then the split into the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Department for Transport. The non-transport policy now rests with the Department for Communities and Local Government.
