Breast Cancer CHANGES LIVES; from the women afflicted, to the families effected. 1 in 9 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.  It is a disease that impacts us all; whether it be a friend, a family member, or ourselves. Women undergoing breast cancer treatment face many unanticipated “out of pocket” expenses, and the cost of breast cancer to the individual and their families has been well documented. Yes!  We need to find a cure for breast cancer, but too often woman going through this journey, and more importantly, the journey that continues in the aftermath of treatment, are  forgotten. It is with this in mind, that organizations such as After Breast Cancer were conceived. After Breast Cancer demonstrates, through our programs and ongoing outreach efforts to survivors and donors alike, our desire to support survivors, and their families, both physically, and emotionally. We are proud of the work we have, and continue to do in addressing the real needs, and issues that survivors are facing. As cancer treatment continues to improve; additional resources are required to support greater quality of life for these women, and to assist them with the various issues that arise during and after treatment. Addressing their needs is becoming increasingly relevant, as the number of breast cancer cases, and survivors continue to rise. Through the work of this organization, we are beginning to address the aftermath of the devastating blow that breast cancer continues to deliver to our mothers, sisters, friends and their families.
