Providing information and resources for middle school Special Education Deans, Case Managers and Special Education teachers around Transition and the IEP for Middle School. Providing technical assistance for Transition Assessments in secondary and post secondary settings.

Providing technical assistance to high school transition teachers in the form of consulting and/or coaching for administering and triangulating data for Level 1 and 2 assessments. Providing assessment services for students requiring Level 3 comprehensive vocational evaluation.

Coordinate with Special Education Transition teams from all 15 high schools in LCPS to identify student referrals for Career Assessment Services. Provide individualized assessment opportunities for referred students including but not limited to: identifying basic psychometrics (skills, interests, values), transferable skills, learning styles, non-work needs, by utilizing work behavior observations, hands-on work samples (MECA and revamped New Concepts), VALPAR component work samples, and other modalities as needed. Develop a mechanism for updating work samples to align with current industry standards. Create and employ a functional communication stream between the CAS, 15 LCPS high school transition teachers, and 5 CAST programs, administration, and families. Develop and deliver professional development opportunities for Transition Teachers, CAST Teachers, and Vocational Evaluators within LCPS. Develop a partnership with Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center (JDC) to provide career assessment for detained students prior to JDC exit. Collaborate with faculty from Monroe Career Technical Education high school to provide career discovery and exploration by utilizing learning styles, work values, and career interest surveys and identifying the crosswalk between what students know about themselves and how to utilize O*Net Online and other internet resources. Develop a week-long camp curriculum for middle school-aged students on Career Discovery.

Community of Practice engagement for the TACC (Technical Assistance Coordination Center) TA & D Network (Technical Assistance & Dissemination Network). The TACC, facilitates coordination, collaboration, and communication between the 40+ Technical Assistance Centers funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP). These projects provide information and technical assistance to states, schools, educational professionals and families, on topics such as autism, deafness, disproportional representation, dispute resolution, learning disabilities, parenting children with special needs, positive behavior support and transition. (Project ending 9/30/13 and found new employment.)

PEATC Next Steps Transition Program received one of the seven RSA federally funded TATRA grants maintained by PACER. PACER's Technical Assistance on Transition and the Rehabilitation Act (TATRA) Project and other Parent Information and Training programs funded by the US Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) focus on helping families prepare youth with disabilities for employment and independent living. Projects provide information and training on transition planning, the adult service system, and strategies that prepare youth for successful employment, postsecondary education, and independent living outcomes. Current vocational rehabilitation policy emphasizes the preferences of individuals with disabilities and recognizes the importance of family expertise. Because they know their family member's strengths, families help make critical contributions to employment. In addition, parents often provide critical supports for their sons and daughters with disabilities long after they reach adulthood.
