My role revolves around advising businesses on financial decisions and their accounting systems. This includes setting up accounting systems, improving their accounting practices, preparing year-end financial statements, analyzing financial data, and advising the finance department on regulatory compliance issues. This helps business leaders stay abreast of changes in tax laws and financial reporting requirements, which ensures compliance.

• Preparation of monthly management accounts,cashflow statements, variance analysis and commentaries for management.• Preparation of quarterly performance reports for management comparing actual business performance against budget and prior year performance and explaining key variances.• Budgets preparation with input with from all relevant stakeholders and presenting the same to management. • Constant analysis of financial information to provide relevant recommendations to management to enable them make decisions.• Supporting the various stakeholders in the business to interpret complex financial information data.• Preparation of annual financial statements for review by external auditors.• Preparation of various management reports.• Supervising both internal and external audits• Bank reconciliations• Approving payments to suppliers• Credit control• Filing and payment of taxes• Intercompany reconciliations• Petty cash management• Processing and reimbursing travel expenses for staff• Monitoring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and local & corporate policies, regulations and laws• Adhering to operational controls• Managing leasing and hire purchase transactions• Stocks control• Payroll preparation

• Ensuring all month end entries are accurately captured in order to facilitate preparation of monthly management accounts by the Finance Manager • Preparation of various management reports • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts• Updating batches in the accounting package;  Journal batches. Cashbook batches. Suppliers invoices.• Supervision of the stock controller/store keepers to ensure stock records are accurately maintained in order to minimize stock variances• Maintenance of Fixed Assets Register – and capturing the changes to the P&L account.• Approving petty cash spending• Recovering withholding tax from eligible services + paying deducted withholding tax. • Preparation of and submission of monthly VAT Returns to Kenya revenue authority.• Liaising with statutory auditors during audit• Preparation of audit file and sending the same to the auditors• Obtaining audited accounts in time from the statutory auditors
