I am an accomplished Registered Nurse with 30+ year of experience providing high quality patient care, with diverse experience in many hospital settings and am very competent in many and varied services. I had the privelege of being educated in Australia, where we were taught in the theatre/Operating Room to both scrub and to circulate. There, at The Prince Charles Hospital, I learned to scrub Open Heart Surgery, with some of the pioneers of Cardiac Surgery in Australia. I then began my journey to the United States, and began travel nursing, where I was placed into new OR's with little orientation, but quickly learned that I could fall back on my initial OR training, and I was able to perform very well.Along the way, some of my career highlights have been working at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, where I was part of the Heart team, and was on call for the Presidential visits to the Valley. Then I moved to Durham, to Duke University Hospital, where I was selected to scrub and circulate in their Heart rooms, where I learned to scrub Heart/Lung transplants and LVAD's, which added to my experience I had gained at Prince Charles. Another highlight was transitioning to being a School Nurse, when we moved to Illinois. I received many compliments for the Excel spreadsheets I put together to track students with Allergies, Medications and Emergency Care Plans, and generally for my organizational and communication skills. I have had to "start over" in my career many times, due to multiple moves with my husband's job, and am proud to have ended, again, at Texas Health Presbyterian Flower Mound, where I enjoy being a part of a hospital located within my community. We continue to grow and always provide a high standard of care to our neighbors, and we collaborate well with our physicians. I enjoy spending time with my husband and 2 daughter's, who are 13 and 15.
