I am a Chartered Physiotherapist and experienced clinician with a main interest in the specialized fields of vestibular and post-concussion rehabilitation. I have completed advanced training in vestibular rehabilitation and regularly attend conferences and seminars in Ireland and the UK related to vestibular dysfunction. I completed an advanced certification in vestibular rehabilitation through University of Pittsburgh in 2024. My interest in vestibular rehabilitation began in 2009 and have since successfully treated hundreds of people experiencing vertigo, dizziness, motion sensitivity and imbalance, I completed a concussion course in 2016 with the coordinator of vestibular rehabilitation for University of Pittsburgh, one of the largest concussion programs in the United States and have since worked with many adults and children experiencing persistent vestibular and ocular symptoms post-concussion including disruption to performance of work, school, and life roles. Vestibular Rehabilitation is a very successful, evidence-based program that involves maneuvers, tailored, progressive exercises and education to decrease dizziness, vertigo and motion sensitivity and improve balance and improve balance and overall quality of life. I previously held the position of Senior Physiotherapist in the HSE assisting in the set-up of the Community Rehabilitation Team, Home Based Physiotherapy Programs, Neuropilates classes and OTAGO Falls Prevention Programs. In 2009 I instigated the vestibular rehabilitation service in Tullamore Primary Care. Since then, I have enjoyed developing this service and my own skillset through experience and continuing education in the area which I pursued in conjunction with my other roles in Primary Care. I recognized the importance of providing training to colleagues in Primary Care and MRHT in vestibular and post-concussion rehabilitation and of promoting a team approach to service provision in the acute and Primary Care settings. My experience in neurology and musculoskeletal physiotherapy while working in Florida and Louisiana over a six-year period following graduation from UCD with a BSc (Hons) in 1994 has been invaluable. I am a certified Pilates instructor with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute. I believe in incorporating core Pilates principles into exercise-based treatment where possible. I previously worked in private practice in Florida, Tullamore, and Edenderry in conjunction with my HSE role.
