I am a Principal Associate in Weightmans’ national Police Team and a Police Claims Team Manager recruiting to and running a high-performing team of defendant police claims lawyers. I have 19 years’ post-qualification experience of defending civil claims, predominantly those brought against the police. Between February 2012 and January 2022, I ran the Civil Litigation Unit at Greater Manchester Police. I dealt with many of GMP’s most high value, high risk and complex civil claims arising out of all areas of Force business and provided Force-wide advice to police staff and officers of all ranks, including in Gold groups, on matters of strategy, risk, mitigation of loss and organisational learning.
