I was a salaried journalist for 21 years and used that experience to create my bespoke business.Since 2009 I have been working for Haslingden High School covering PR for the media and for 10 years I worked for Fearns Community Spots College (now an academy). Since 2013, I have been the press and PR officer for Rossendale-based charity Veterans In Communities and produce a monthly newsletter for the organisation. Since 2015 I have been press and PR officer for Whitworth Community High School and in 2021 I began covering press stories for Rossendale Leisure Trust.My USP is producing newspapers by working with children and young people to turn their words and photographs into a mini-paper. I have produced more than 50 different papers through my Paper in a Day project, termly and half-termly papers. Check out my website for more details and testimonials from teachers and pupils.In 2018 the school newspaper I produced Fearns Chat won two national titles - best newspaper and best front cover in the national Shine School Media Awards. In 2020 one of the students at Coal Clough Academy in Burnley who is a key member of the school team producing their newspaper Coal Clough News, a project I lead, won 'Scholar of the year' in Shine School Media Awards.I do ad hoc PR jobs for various businesses and charities and for the last four years I have provided PR for the Rossendale Business Awards since 2012, now also Hyndburn and Ribble Valley.In 2010 I published a book on the murder of Sophie Lancaster - now the third 2020 version of Weirdo Mosher Freak is available on Amazon as a Kindle. I also sell original autographed books on Amazon and Ebay.I also have a life outside work - I am chairman of Bacup And Stacksteads Carnival Organisation and a Cub Scout leader. In 2017, after a year of being ill, I was diagnosed with Graves Disease. On my website, I blogged my battle with my misbehaving thyroid and its eventual removal in 2018. This was to help others better understand the condition.

I worked as a reporter covering a large area and also was responsible for reporting to the bosses about work other journalists were carrying out and managing the newsroom. I was also trained to sub and lay pages and that is where I learnt my design skills. I put these to good use now designing newsletters, mini school newspapers, posters and other literature.

I relocated as a general news reporter to the Burnley office. Within three days there had been a murder. Difficult because it was a large area on the fringe of Rossendale and covered by both the Bury Times and Bolton News so some serious competition.
