Catherine is a Registered Nurse-Midwife with 25 years+ professional experience and several nursing specialisations. For three decades, Catherine has pioneered person-centred care in new and challenging settings on land, at sea, and in the air. The core of Catherine's nursing practice, and health service management style, is in creating psychologically and physically safe, therapeutic spaces which enable critically informed, evidence-based caring, healing and growth. Care requires expertise in the full range of human experience (across the lifespan), expertise in it's social context, the impact and healing of trauma and adverse life events, and is patient/client/user lead. Catherine is committed to the creation of biocompassionate spaces (Georges, 2014) in healthcare for everyone involved, through emancipatory nursing theory and praxis development.
