St. Michael'S Parish, Barbados

Excavated modern ceramics related to sugar production at the Walkers Estate plantation to evaluate if enslaved people produced ceramics independently, outside of the plantation system. Met with local artists, museum workers, and collaborators to research enslavement’s legacy among contemporary Bajans and how racism and colorism operate in contemporary Barbados.

Dos Mangas, Ecuador

Conducted ethnographic research with the people of Dos Mangas to evaluate their relationship to the Valdivia site, the Ecuadorian government, and American archeologists. Excavated ceramics, lithics, and figurines of the Valdivia people, one of the oldest settled populations in South America that dates to about 3,000 BCE.
