I produce information to share with the public representing government agency projects and studies. I analyze the financial feasibility of renewable energy projects to reduce GHG emissions and energy costs and perform water and recycled water infrastructure research, technical writing and editing; grant writing and management; project administration; sustainable infrastructure analysis of water production and delivery. A California native with a B.A. from UC Santa Cruz, I received two masters degrees from the University of Washington where I completed the international studies and public administration, international development non profit management and environmental and natural resources management curriculum. I have worked on project teams to investigate and report on 5 State grants in the following subject areas: desalination planning, a seawater desalination pilot plant, an open ocean and subsurface intake studies, vertical wells, and non potable and advanced purified recycled water. For several of the grants I worked with an engineering firm to successfully apply for grant funding and was tasked with managing the grants to ensure compliance. I am comfortable working as a team player to advance collaborative studies, or working independently on assignments to prepare short or lengthy documents that convey the feasibility of potential projects, or report on years of environmental research and engineering .

Contributed to the project management of grant funded studies under the direction of the Desalination Coordinator, edited technical studies focused on the feasibility of the former proposed seawater desalination plant. Developed a command of the information regarding Santa Cruz's surface and groundwater water supply infrastructure. Collaborated with other water agencies in regional planning for water reuse: developed an RFQ for the City's feasibility study of potable and non potable reuse. Drafted grant applications for water system capital improvement projects for IRWM applications, which resulted in an offer of a grant award for a well replacement project. Collaborated with water efficiency consultants to apply for a federal water and energy efficiency grant. Supported Desalination Coordinator with State grants; facilitated research for intake studies for a seawater desalination plant; edited appendices for the project draft EIR; secured environmental permits by writing an Environmental Assessment and presenting an analysis of the projected impacts of sonar equipment's use offshore; analyzed loan and grant opportunities for water capital infrastructure projects.

At UCSC, I developed several websites and was engaged in a public involvement research activity to look for alternatives to the Coastal Water Project that Cal Am had proposed. I co-facilitated this project in Marina from the spring of 2007 to the Fall of 2008, ensuring that people had the information they needed. I developed and posted all the content on the website as a log for the participants interested in the process who could not attend the monthly meetings regularly. I also developed a literature bibliography of water reuse, developed a peer review cost estimate with Bureau of Reclamation engineers to compare the cost estimate for the Coastal Water Project. From 2005 to 2008 I administered a multi-university project with a grant from the Department of Water Resources to produce a desalination planning matrix. My role was to plan and execute three planning workshops in California, report on the team's progress, and support the lead researchers.
