I founded Code for America's international partnership program, Code for All. As founder I built Code for All from the ground up: creating a set of founding principles that will guide Code for All's work (adapted from Code for America's operating mission), establishing and managing an international advisory board, raising funds, identifying and supporting in-country partners, developing training materials and shared resources, raising awareness about Code for All and the partner organizations, and facilitating relationship-building between partner orgs, and building a technical and social infrastructure to connect our global community.

For the last two months of the campaign, I joined Tech4Obama in order to expand the broad membership base, both by geography and demographic. I acted as an online community organizer, building and managing a group of high-influence supporters whose goal was to encourage others to take action (registering to vote, voting early, pledging to vote, signing up to volunteer) through online tools, and to spread the campaign's message through social media channels. I helped to craft and delivered the President's tech policy message to interested groups. I helped to expand Tech4Obama's operations in New York, Boston, and upstate New York. I organized in-person events for Tech4Obama members, which ranged from small group strategy sessions to larger recruitment meetings. I helped manage Tech4Obama's online presence on Twitter and at www.tech4obama.com.

I moved to San Francisco in January to launch the Obama campaign's Technology Field Office, the first of its kind in American political history. We recruited over 100 technologists to build 14 products for the national campaign. I was responsible for overseeing recruitment of all volunteers and product management for all 14 products. I managed the relationship with our stakeholders in Chicago, to make sure the products were built to spec and met the campaign's needs. I managed volunteer assignments and schedules, stitching together the hours that the volunteers could devote into a timeline that worked for a fast-paced campaign. I managed the campaign's relationship to the Bay Area tech community at large, representing the campaign at events and acting as a point of contact for interested parties.

Worked as a Product Manager on the Technology team at President Obama's re-election headquarters. Managed multiple tools from conception to deployment, including multiple version releases. Acted as a bridge between the engineering team and other departments within the campaign (Digital, Analytics, Paid Media, and Finance) to translate product requirements and make sure our software and web tools met the campaign's needs. Built and managed the campaign's Digital/Tech Advisory Group. Acted as the liaison between the technology team and the campaign's Tech4Obama affinity group.

Managed the Knight Foundation's 2011 News Challenge, a grant competition that funds digital innovation in journalism. Worked closely with the Director of Digital Innovation and the Vice President of the Journalism Program to promote the News Challenge. Managed the judging process, through three rounds. Acted as the main point of contact for the judges. Interviewed finalists and made recommendations to the foundation based on those interviews. Organized and managed meetings to select the winners. Worked with the winning teams on organizational strategy.

For the last 2.5 years of my eight-year tenure at the Berkman Center I developed strategy, managed finances, and oversaw all operational functions for the world's premier Internet research center. The center had a community of 10 faculty directors, 25 full-time staff, 50 research fellows, and hundreds of students and affiliates. I worked closely with the executive and managing directors, as well as the faculty board of directors, to develop long-term strategy and make resource allocation decisions. I oversaw the center's $5MM+ annual budget and managed the grantwriting and fundraising process. Our portfolio consisted of foundation grants, federal grants, individual gifts and corporate gifts. I directly managed the administrative, community, and events staff (the "core team" of the center). I oversaw the center's 10th anniversary jubilee, a year-long celebration of the Internet which included programming, an awards ceremony, and a successful $10MM fundraising campaign. When the financial crisis of 2008 hit, I coordinated the center's reorganization in order to avoid laying off staff in the face of steep declines in the center's newly-raised endowment. I acted as interim Co-Executive Director from July-December 2008.
