It works wonders for inspiring empathy, respect and cooperation in your marriage and family life too! As a mediator, I work with two people or entire groups that are in conflict. I help detoxify the disconnecting judgments or stories they may be holding about the other parties that make resolution more difficult. We reframe them and safely extract the valuable learning they contain. I show them that they can get their needs met more easily and successfully by dropping "enemy images". Usually, to their surprise, everyone ends up on the same team, willing to help each other!As an executive and team coach I teach people to master the "inner game" of emotions and needs. This allows my clients to get clear inside themselves before connecting with another. This "feelings and needs literacy" training takes time, but pays huge dividends. My clients gain a new superpower they can apply to create successful work and personal relationships for the rest of their lives.Trying to be "efficient" with people doesn't work, as organizational development expert Stephen Covey has shown. You can only be efficient with things. With people, you can be effective! I am developing a fundraising seed team for the Peaceful Green Earth project, a cooperative game organized to serve many future generations. Just as the Greek Olympics continue to serve us 2700 years later, the Peaceful Green Earth Game is an on-going mental and spiritual Olympics, passed to future generations. The game goal is to create and maintain a peaceful green Earth -- very likely a core challenge and need on this planet for many generations to come. One of the first projects of the Team will be to create a funding alliance for peace and environmental sustainability. The Alliance will dramatically improve our chances of achieving a peaceful green Earth by inviting people to 'up our game' and channel significant resources to peace and the environment. Today we give less than 3% of our charity to environmental organizations and only 3% of our government discretionary funds. We give even less money to peace, though war is costing us 50% of our government discretionary money ($500 billion/year).
