In my work as an educator, I love making learning creative, relevant, and based in students' curiosity. Throughout my time leading project-based classrooms, my students have produced podcasts, designed museum exhibits, written analytical essays and personal narratives, and performed their own original plays. I create learning environments built on compassion, students' questions, and a shared delight in learning. For 8 years, I taught at Meridian Academy, a small project-based school that encourages students to undertake in-depth and complex investigations in all areas of their learning. In addition to teaching, I also directed Meridian's theater program, led their community service committee, and co-founded their peer mentoring program. I now work as a Teacher Leader at Facing History & Ourselves. In 2017, I was awarded the Margot Stern Strom Innovation Grant from Facing History and Ourselves for a correspondence project that I created with a colleague in Arkansas. The project cultivates honest and thoughtful dialogue between students from politically different regions of the country. My work as a playwright has been supported by the Huntington Theatre Company, the Forward Theater Company, the Renaissance Theatre Company, Dream Boston, the Catwalk Art Institute, and elsewhere. I was a 2019-2022 Huntington Playwriting Fellow and a 2023 Tennessee Williams Playwriting Scholar at the Sewanee Writers’ Conference.
