Catherine Frey is an experienced senior executive, Founder, and Board Member. She brings to the businesses and boards she serves over 30 years’ experience in Venture Capital, Private Equity, and Investment Banking. Over a multidisciplinary career, she has a demonstrated track record accessing the private and public markets to source investment opportunities and partner with companies and capital providers to drive shareholder value. Her extensive experience operating and innovating within highly regulated and complex industries has informed her risk management skills, and adherence to strong governance and financial controls. Catherine has led specialized teams executing business development strategies globally and has architected turnaround strategies for companies ranging from early stage to established including MatlinPatterson Global Advisors, Venor Capital, and RockView Capital. Catherine began her career as an investment banker at esteemed institutions, Drexel Burnham Lambert and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where she developed her restructuring, financial engineering, and risk management skills. Subsequently, as a Managing Director at Bear Stearns and Morgan Stanley, she held senior positions in the High Yield and Distressed Debt Sales & Trading Groups, steering debt financing in the public and private markets for the firms’ corporate clients. Catherine is the co-Founder of F2P Ventures and the Founder of Frey Capital Advisors, both companies launched to capture “value dislocations” in the alternative investment markets. She has repeatedly collaborated with founders and their management teams during periods of pivotal transition redefining operating models, cultivating strategic partnerships, and steering capital to scale and drive profitability for clients and portfolio companies.She is a qualified financing expert and an audit committee candidate. Catherine is adept at risk management, crisis communication, and stakeholder alignment. Innately a critical thinker who can iterate quickly, she is drawn to innovation, disruption, and financial engineering challenges. Her industry and business model experience is broad with concentrations in Financial Services, Asset Management, Fintech, MedTech, Insurtech, and Insurance Distribution. Catherine is bilingual and fluent in English and German. She has a deep connection to her Austrian roots and is passionate about her mountain sports. She played division 1 tennis and is the mom of two young adult daughters.
