I have extensive experience in lending transactions, acting as counsel to foreign and domestic banks and companies in (re)structuring, negotiating and drafting various types of credit arrangements and related contracts. I focus on all legal and regulatory aspects that the financial industry faces. I advise on licensing requirements, business conduct rules, enforcement and discipline by the financial service regulator, the prudential requirements of the latter, as well as the inner workings of the Financial Markets. I assist European and non-European banks, investment firms and insurance companies on a wide range of matters.Founding member of Fintech Belgium, I am actively involved in ‘Digital Finance’ matters, assisting clients in their ‘FinTech’ and ‘InsurTech’ related projects, such as alternative financing, mobile payments and robo-advisory.I am the chairman of the European Society for Banking and Finance law (AEDBF – term 2018-2021) and a member of the board - and former chairman - of the AEDBF Belgium. I am also a member of the board of FinTech Belgium, and an independant director of the bank Crelan and of Alterfin.Catherine Houssa is ranked in Band 2 by Chambers & Partners in Banking & Finance Regulatory.She is also recognised by Who's Who Legal as an expert in FinTech.
