The Environmental Research Institute undertakes multi-disciplinary environmental research across a range of ecosystems to inform policy and practices that will support effective environmental outcomes.My role in research support is fantastically varied and includes urban ecological restoration research and education; epiphyte ecology, restoration and education; event organisation; ecological consultation; community engagement, project management and student guidance. We work with community, industry and business to understand and repair degraded environments.As part of this role I hold a position on the Waikato Biodiversity Forum advisory group.

Representing the University and engaging with students at high schools and career expos on a casual basis.

Six weeks full time teaching first year Biology Labs at the University of Waikato.

Working to connect kiwi kids to nature. I planned and ran school camps at Te Kauri Lodge near Kawhia as well as school visits around Waikato. Programmes are designed to meet teacher's learning outcomes, emphasise key competencies and provide a range of activities to spark the students'​ imagination.It is a privilege to share the knowledge and passion that I've gained from different brilliant people and I am constantly studying new subjects to provide a range of inspirations for my students.

I undertook an ecological survey of epiphytes in the Waikato region. Results were presented to the 2010 New Zealand Conservation Management Group conference.

I organised scientists to speak at Junior Café Scientifique events in high schools, liaised with committees of high school students and teachers, and reported outcomes.

As a research assistant I processed, analysed and reported the findings of a survey into the effectiveness of the University-run Café Scientifique events.
