Recruited to McMillan in 2009, when the firm had approximately 200 lawyers located in Toronto, Montreal and Calgary. The combination of McMillan LLP and Lang Michener LLP on January 1, 2011 created one of Canada’s top 12 law firms with close to 400 lawyers, in offices located in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal, and Hong Kong.- Provided marketing and business development leadership to McMillan leading up to and for two years immediately following the largest merger in the firm’s history.- As a member of a small senior management team, led the development and execution of the entire marketing and business development program for the merger and subsequent ongoing communications. The communication of the merger was acknowledged both internally and externally to have been very successful.- Led the effort to recruit, hire, train and integrate 11 professionals into the marketing and business development team to meet the needs of the new firm. This new contingent represented 65% of the full national team of 17.- Created, implemented and led the management of a national shared services marketing and business development service operation.- Led and managed the integration efforts for all internal and external programs, resources, systems and processes in the two years following the merger.- Led the development of a number of significant internal productivity improvement initiatives that increased efficiency and reduced the cost of delivering the firm’s marketing and business development services.
