Maternity leave coverage. Overseeing school programs and the Fish in Schools (FinS) program at Bow Habitat Station as part of the strategy division of Alberta Environment and Parks. Coordinating the development of Climate Change education initiatives.School Programs: Developing and overseeing school programs for K-Gr 6. These programs provide students and teachers with hands-on opportunities to learn about Alberta’s natural resources through inquiry and exploration. FinS: Fish in Schools: Raise to Release program provides students the opportunity to raise Rainbow Trout in their schools. Over a four to five month period, students and teachers maintain and monitor the development of trout – from egg to fry - in their classroom aquarium. My role is to oversee the program from start to finish, including delivering equipment and eggs, providing teacher support, running teacher training, and overseeing release events.

Working with school groups and at public events to spread environmental awareness. Focused on grades 1-6 but held programs for K - 12.

My findings suggest that teachers and environmental educators in Alberta are frequently worried about teaching climate change, but that many educators have found success in teaching climate change by adapting resources from other jurisdictions to suit the specific audiences in their communities and by focusing their teaching on their interests and the interests of their students. In order for educators to feel confident in teaching climate change, resources and training specific to communities across Alberta should be developed, outdoor field trips should be funded for as many students as possible, multidisciplinary links should be made between climate change and the curriculum, and training and resources should be provided to those involved in the education of Alberta students such as administrators and parents.

As Coordinator, Resource and Development at MindFuel, I developed and maintained donor relationships. In addition to grant writing to for foundation and corporations, I maintained internal documentation, build community relationships, and represented MindFuel at events. Because of my undergraduate theatre degree from the University of Alberta, I take a natural approach to business engagement and networking. MindFuel, formerly Science Alberta Foundation, is a non-profit organization committed to developing and distributing captivating hands-on and online science programs which ignite a passion for science in youth of all ages. By encouraging exploration of real world science and technology, we enhance science literacy and inspire a lifelong appreciation for science learning.
