About Catherine Dix
Hello There! I'm Catherine, and I appreciate you taking the time to view my LinkedIn Profile. In my past experience as a medication aide/tech and care partner, I have learned how to assist people in completing tasks of daily living, how to be resourceful and calm under pressure, and how to be a true team player who is enthusiastic about making a positive contribution anywhere I work.To explain more about my technical skills, I enrolled in the Dare 2 Care Nursing Assistant I course in July of 2024 and received my CNA I license in August of 2024. I am currently taking the Dare 2 Care CNA 2 class, and am anticipating graduation on 11/23/2024. Additionally, I received my Bachelor's degree in BioHealth Sciences from Oregon State University in June of 2024 where I chose to complete a pre-physician assistant option. There, I took courses relevant to the healthcare field as a whole like medical terminology, immunology, anatomy and physiology with lab, mechanisms of disease, and general pathology. The labs I participated in taught me the scientific method, generating lab reports, and performing in depth analysis on experiments done in group settings. Outside of attending Oregon State University, my training and experience includes and is not limited to working as a medication aide where I was delegated by registered nurses to administer insulin, medications, and treatments. I also learned administrative work in this role, like how to do in-depth resident charting on a shift-by-shift basis, communicating with pharmacies and health care providers, as well as completing documentation and communicating that via fax machine and EMR. During my time as a caregiver, I was trained using Oregon Care Partners and Relias and even took additional courses due to my interests in helping older adults. I hold a current BLS Provider CPR and AED certification, and have a food handler's card. As you can see, I have plenty of relevant experience that would aide me in performing well in CNA 2 roles. In addition to formal employment, I am also looking to expand my horizons by shadowing providers like doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in order to develop my experience in the healthcare field further. I also want to learn of more healthcare related volunteer opportunities if anyone would like to message me about that. If you would like to set up with an interview with me, have a suggestion for a role I would fit into well, or if you would like to reach out to connect, feel free to message me on LinkedIn or email me. I look forward to hearing from you :)

Biohealth Sciences Major, Pre-Physician Assistant Opt.
I graduated on 6/15/2024 with a 3.2 GPA. In my education at OSU, I have pursued a BioHealth Sciences degree and a Pre-Physician Assistant option where I took courses involving anatomy, physiology, biology and chemistry labs, biochemistry, organic chemistry, immunology, medical terminology, general pathology, mechanisms of disease, and many more courses relating to the healthcare field as a whole. As a student I experienced learning from well experienced professors active in the healthcare field, collaborated with fellow students while completing group projects and within laboratory courses, and learned to apply medical and health knowledge to both my personal life and the lessons I've learned while working as a caregiver and medication tech.
Caregiver And Hospitality Aide
Within this role, I expanded my knowledge in caregiving to helping residents who needed help with orthopedic braces of the neck, leg, and shoulders. Often, I assisted providers and residents who received hospice, palliative care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other types of specialized assistance. In addition to helping residents with their ADLs, cleaning, helping them get to their medical appointments in a timely manner, and carrying out other aspects of their care plan; I encouraged residents to socialize, participate in scheduled activities, and meet with other residents at meal times in person. Through this role, I learned that one of the most important aspects of a person's life is their connection with other people.
Home Care Provider
Within this role, I delivered individualized care to seniors and people with disabilities. This care often involved assistance in hygiene, mobility, housekeeping, emotional support, companionship, meal planning and preparation, transportation to and from medical appointments, and communication with other staff, the care team, and the family regarding the individual's care plan. In this role I was able to form professional and caring relationships with the individual and their family.
Medication Aide
My role at Pacific Grove Senior living involved administering medications, treatments, insulin injections, taking vitals, charting, and filling out medical forms as requested by the residents' care plans and/or providers and families. I professionally and caringly delivered individualized care and treatments to residents every shift. Working with the RCC, RN, other medication aides, and other caregivers within the facility helped me demonstrate being an efficient, reliable, and collaborative part of the care team.
Medication Aide And Caregiver
At this role I was responsible for assisting residents with ADLs, administering medications and treatments, taking vitals, helping with dietary needs and hygiene, housekeeping, emotional support, communicating with families, and ensuring that I served residents with individualized care, dignity, and respect.
Caregiver
This was my first care-oriented position where I worked in assisting residents with ADLs, performed light housekeeping, and ensured that residents lived healthy, happy, and fulfilled lives. I collaborated with the RCC and medication aides to carry out important aspects of the care plan. During my time there, I helped care for residents' pets, assist them in participating in fun activities and ensured they were ready for their medical appointments on time.
