Profile bio

About Catherine Perl

As Senior Grant Writer, I develop, win, and manage grants to fund clinical research studies that advance knowledge about LGBTQ+ health topics including HIV/STI prevention and treatment, gender-affirming care, women’s and reproductive healthcare, substance use, mental health, and racial and economic disparities in healthcare. In my work as a yoga instructor, I meet students where they are in their practice, offer a variety of levels to accommodate a variety of body types and abilities, and encourage students to trust and honor their bodies in the present moment. My 12 years in humanities higher education trained me to synthesize and analyze large quantities of information, develop compelling data-driven arguments, write with clarity, and secure project funding. Teaching at a college in prison enhanced my ability to navigate complicated hierarchies with empathy and patience. Working in instructional and administrative roles at traditional universities and at a college in prison taught me to work both collaboratively and independently, organize and convey complex content to diverse audiences, provide and receive feedback, and foster respectful and engaged conversations.
