Catherine provided passionate and inspiring leadership for the founding Board of Directors during the crucial start-up and development stage of the school. During her tenure as Board President, Catherine was the face and voice of PPAS, passionately sharing the vision and mission of the school with the local community, and dramatically increasing Intent to Enrolls from perspective students and families. Catherine worked to build and train a strong Board, and helped to establish a vital partnership with the Colorado League of Charter Schools to leverage valuable resources available to developing charter schools. Catherine also forged many key relationships and partnerships with local arts organizations and community groups. Catherine was instrumental in researching and creating the academic and performing arts program for Parker Performing Arts School, including the plan to utilize a technology-infused, one-to-one iPad environment. Catherine led the planning team in the writing of the school's extensive 271-page charter application, which was recognized by the Douglas County School District staff as "exemplary" on both a local and national level. The charter application was submitted to the Douglas County School District in March 2015, and was approved by the DCSD Board of Education with a unanimous vote on June 2, 2015. Parker Performing Arts School opened in August 2016 in Parker, Colorado serving students in grades K-8. The vision of PPAS is to prepare students for future success through rigorous and innovative academic instruction and meaningful engagement in the performing arts.
