I am currently a junior at University of Kentucky, studying Mechanical Engineering. I am on the Formula Kentucky team, where we design and build a formula style race car in a one-year build cycle. During my freshman year, I got to experience a lot of the manufacturing process of the car, and even had some hands-on experience with building. I learned how to notch tubes, use basic shop tools, and began learning TIG welding. Last year I designed the pedal box for the car, which was our first ever two pedal system in the history of the team. This experience has taught me teamwork, collaboration, and integration skills, as well as help me learn Solidworks CAD. I have also taken the position of the Engineering Manager of the team this year, where I oversee the whole team and its subsystems to make sure all deadlines are hit, documentation is completed, and the best car possible is built and integrated fully. Through being the EM, I have learned team management, team leadership, documentation, integration, design, timeline skills, and many more.
