She once left the industry and tried her hand at being a chef. It lasted six months.

Designed for young women, the dot.com was a portal that focused on offering young women messages in rebellion to traditional media. alterevo had a heavy focus on user generated content, strong career support and mentoring, and street fashion from around the globe. Catherine worked with senior minds from St George Bank, Sun Microsystems, Blake Dawson Waldron and Ernst and Young to develop the business. The dot.com crash took place as the business was set to launch and after some unsuccessful merger negotiations, Catherine subsequently accepted a marketing role with her investors, organising Australia's first dot.com conference and a range of support materials for entrepreneurs.
