The Director of Strategic Medical preparedness manages the four integrated Subprograms of the Office of Strategic Medical Preparedness. Subprogram Erudite is responsible for the planning, development and execution of mass casualty training programs for high threat posts., Subprogram Everest manages the Department’s strategic stockpiles of medical equipment, Subprogram Hemlock manages the post exposure prophylactic pharmaceuticals, and Subprogram Anodyne is responsible is responsible for developing strategic medical contingency plans. The office also maintains health-related guidance as part of the Decision Points preparedness system run by the Office of Crisis Management Strategy in the Operations Center.
