About Cathryn Hamblin

I have worked in various roles within the area of special needs and disability over the past 30 years, including as a class teacher, school SENCO, Area SENCO Lead, and more recently within Havering's Local Authority SEND team. My current role involves supporting an outreach team working with children with disabilities and their families from 0-5 years, and I am a strong believer in the importance of early intervention and a multi agency approach. A major part of my role and something I am very enthusiastic about is training-I am accredited in a number of training courses, including Elklan, Portage, Early Language Development Programme and Early Support. I worked as a Makaton Regional trainer from 1996-2004, and am currently re-training in this.The ethos of Early Support, which advocates putting children with additional needs and their families at the centre of any decision making, is something I strongly believe in.
