Lecturing in Event Management at undergraduate level.

Freelance events and project manager and logistics coordinator for a number of different arts activities including the Coventry Godiva Awakes for the Cultural Olympiad 2012, Godiva Carnival, Ostara, International Children’s Games, the Holocaust Memorial and Festival of Imagineering. I have undertaken many wide and varied roles for the company across a wide cross section of events over the years. Some specific responsibilities (just in relation to the Godiva Awakes event and Godiva Carnival, as examples), include:• developing and implementing crowd safety management plans, including getting local authority and emergency services sign- 
off, for the one-off Godiva Awakes event in University Square July 2012 (first event of its kind in that location) • devising, delivering and managing all the logistical planning for the safe passage on roads on the days of the Coventry Godiva 
Carnival over many years • identifying, liaising with and working in effective partnership with all the relevant organisations, local authorities, emergency 
services and private commercial companies that are involved in public events of this kind • recruiting and managing organisations and casual workers to implement the plans, with the key responsibility of ensuring the 
safety of all involved, and of the general public as audience and participators • developing appropriate health and safety, and emergency plans and ensuring they are understood and undertaken by all 
involved • working harmoniously with everyone who comes into contact with the event(s), both pre and during the event, be they 
participant, audience, general public or un-related individuals or companies.

Frederick Lanchester is referred to as “Britain’s own Leonardo da Vinci”; he created the first all-British motor boat, the first all-British 4-wheel petrol car, he produced many designs including turbo-charging, power-steering, 4-wheel drive, hybrid engines and more. Coventry University holds a unique collection of Frederick’s work in notebooks, blueprints, photographs, patents and correspondence that deserves preservation. Lanchester’s heritage remains relatively unknown. As Project Manager my role is to coordinate the work that aims to change that. Creative Enterprise is a new support initiative aimed at creative graduates, new enterprises and established businesses from across the West Midlands. We offer a range of free services and opportunities, including networking events, workshops, mentoring, consultancy, business advice and guidance and workspace. Creative Enterprise is based at ICE: the Institute of Creative Enterprise at Coventry University. It’s a dynamic community of practitioners, creative businesses and experts and home to the Emerge newsletter and networking sessions.

Cathryn Goodwin was contracted as a Project Manager on a freelance basis to manage Dancescape’s project commitments through to summer 2012. The role was to specifically manage the following projects:Movin’ On Up dance careers event – at Stratford-upon-Avon CollegeOutdoor Dance Programme (led by DanceXchange) – bringing ‘Spill – a playground of dance’ to parks in Coventry, Chelmsley Wood, Solihull, Kenilworth and Warwick, and ‘Breathe the Beat’ roadshows to Leamington and SolihullBoys Dancing (led by Warwick Arts Centre) – managing a team of Apprentices who are working alongside professional male dance artists across the region to develop their dance leadership skills whilst creating The Quiet Man Suite, a suite of 6 films, with groups of boys and young menDancescape enews – keeping the sector and audiences informed of opportunities to take part and see dance in the sub region throughout the Spring and SummerRugby Youth Dance Company – supporting the company’s leaders and members in a range of activity, including their part in Godiva Awakes, the large scale Cultural Olympiad project led by Imagineer ProductionsSupporting the realisation of a number of other projects such as Motionhouse’s The Voyage/Quest, Sampad’s Moving Earth, Dance Sansaar’s Lawk Naach and SMBC’s Neighbourhood Sports’ JumpTG.

I worked as the Education Officer at Warwick Arts Centre, developing and managing a range of education arts projects that related to all areas of the Arts Centre's work. The main thrust of my work was to set up and co-ordinating a number of dance related projects, the largest of which was 'Boys Dancing' funded as part of the Cultural Olympiad, working with over 700 young lads across 8 West Midlands regions, working alongside 15 professional artists to create a suite of 6 youth dance films.

Cre8us delivers the Creative Partnership programme across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire, currently working with around 60 schools. It provides a catalyst for positive change in education, cultural and community settings. As Programme Manager I recruit and manage the schools and the freelance Creative Agents who operate within them, ensuring the schools work to achieve the impact they seek against their own defined priorities. I have responsibility for project management and quality assurance, including budget control, recruitment and employment practices, monitoring and reporting to the various stakeholders. Schools are very pressured settings, and the job involves a high level of people management. At the heart of my work is Cre8us's mission to work to raise the inspiration, attainment and development of all the young people involved in our programme, through a process that supports individuals and organisations to navigate change and grow the creative skills that will enable sustained future success.

Arts+Media supports the lifelong learning of the cultural and creative workforce by facilitating skills development and providing resources for artists and arts organisations to grow their creative practices and build their business offer.It aims to enhance the performance of artists and arts organisations through providing outstanding training and consultancy .Its services include business counselling, workshops, training, mentoring, masterclasses, retreats and a range of services which can be tailored to an organisation’s needs.

The Coventry Theatre Network (CTN) was formed following the successful application for a major Arts for Everyone (A4E) lottery grant, linking several local independent theatre companies and the Belgrade Theatre. The 3 year project, entitled 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' was a development programme that sought to examine the possibilities that arose when a large main-scale producing repertory theatre really worked to support local small scale independent companies, and what the mutual creative artistic impact could be of an ongoing developmental relationship. As project co-ordinator I worked with all the companies to devise the 3 year programme, and developed and led all collaborative joint activities. As the sole employee I set up all the systems and structures to manage the £500K budget, monitored and reported all activities and coordinated the marketing and knowledge sharing of all the activities that came out of the collaboration.

Coordinated the back stage elements of productions for this repertory theatre, including:- setting up and running rehearsals, including liaising with directors and all other production departments on everyday planning, changes, including coordinating and managing any community casts and extras that might be part of the process- identifying, sourcing and obtaining props, furntiure and dressings for all in-house productions- taking on all pastoral care for performers and techicians for incoming touring companies- running a team that works on the performances - in-house and freelance staff- and any and every other duty that a busy producing theatrethrows up - from obtaining (for free!) life-size working looms to managaing a community cast of over a hundred - to finding a plumber in another city to solve a visiting cast members domestic crisis!
