Cathy Inglis AM is an experienced materials engineer, technical expert, former university lecturer and National HIA Board Director and led the innovation of building products for major Australian and US building products group Brickworks (ASX:BKW) for more than 25 years. Cathy was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for services to the building and construction industry in 2020 and her detailed product knowledge covers a diverse range of building materials including bricks, precast concrete, masonry, pavers, roof tiles, lightweight facades and prefabricated systems. Cathy's experience has focused on the development of new products and systems to meet the future challenges of sustainable building with innovations including Certified Carbon Neutral Bricks, solar roof tiles, non-combustible lightweight façades and bricks incorporating waste materials.Prior to joining Brickworks, Cathy was an associate lecturer at the University of Technology in Sydney. She has a Master of Science (Materials Science) and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Materials Science) from the University of Technology. Over her career Cathy has led the industry research on the thermal performance of Australian Housing and was the industry partner in several ARC research grants at Newcastle University over a 10-year period which resulted in comprehensive data and understanding of the thermal efficiency of a range of housing types. Cathy has served on Housing Industry Association (HIA) committees for almost 20 years and currently serves as a Director on HIA’s national board. Cathy has experience as a director both at Brickworks and other professional associations.
