LibrarianPleasant Plains High School Aug 2007 - Jul 2009Pleasant Plains, IlThough my tenure at Pleasant Plains was short and the school community was small, I found incredible support for pursuing new ideas and big plans. Colleagues and administrators were unafraid to explore new curriculum concepts and innovative projects requiring students to tackle learning through asking questions and gathering research. Yet, students and faculty alike often found that out-dated technology limited our abilities to implement research and ideas for problem solving effectively. In response to this challenge, I wrote and submitted a proposal to the IL State Library for a highly competitive federal LSTA grant. My simple but lofty goal: to equip the library with technology that would better facilitate effective information literacy instruction. In August of 2008, PPHS received word that my proposal was awarded full funding ($43,000+) and I was charged with implementing the full scope of my ambitious plan, which was embraced by the school community. -
