Under the supervision of attorneys from Legal Aid at Work, conduct client intake interviews and advise low-income workers on wide range of employment issues, including wage and hour, employment discrimination, wrongful termination, family medical leave, unemployment insurance, state disability insurance, supplemental security income, whistleblowing, and workers’ compensation.

Assumed full responsibilities of legally representing an asylum applicant. This included preparation of I-589 application and drafting of attached client declaration and legal brief; preparing weekly interview plans; conducting weekly client interviews; researching and drafting country conditions report; securing expert witness affidavits; extensive legal research and development of case theory; and completing transition memo for subsequent representatives taking on the case.

Researched and drafted legal advocacy statement on crimes of aggression in Iraq that was ultimately submitted to the United Nations Human Rights Council’s 37th Session for consideration. Attended the 37th Session at UN Headquarters in Geneva and delivered an advocacy statement to The Council on free speech and human rights violations in Argentina. Assisted supervising attorney with drafting and editing advocacy speech on human rights in Iraq for UNHRC “side event”. Observed various human rights presentations at “side events” and met with various human rights practitioners and international diplomats.
