I am a sole provider of mental health services designed to meet the needs of individuals of all ages, families and couples. My first professional certification was in the field of substance abuse and helped me understand and treat the complexities that are present in this population. I became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in 2004 upon completion of 3500 hours of supervised training and passing the licensing exam in Colorado. I was trained at Evans Army Community Hospital as part of an interdisciplinary team and learned the importance of structure, communication and distribution of responsibilities as a thorough delivery of services to the population. I accredit my professional growth to the rigorous training I received and the patience and encouragement from the multidisciplinary team I worked with. I transitioned to the substance abuse field and worked at the Vileck and GrafenwoehrAlcohol and Drug Abuse Center from 2000-2003 under 2 Clinical Directors. During that time, I also worked as a contractor for the Army Community Services Center and conducted home visits, evaluations and education as a Foster Care Evaluator and Educator. I had my first encounter as a Employee Assistance Provider for the US Postal Employees and have been providing short-term, resolution focused services as a EAP provider since 2000. In this role, I also continue to engage in Critical Incident / Stress Debriefs onsite to assist employees, managers, HR personnel and upper management to address acute needs. I have been in private practice since my return from Germany in 2003 and enjoy working with clients of all ages. Whenever possible and clinically indicated, I include family members in the treatment to address any underlying dynamics that cause or contribute to the presenting problem. I have been trained and certified in Trauma Specific Treatment modalities (e.g EMDR) in 2005 and use these skills weekly at my Colorado Springs and Monument offices.
